Foodie Monday: Auntie Bonnie’s Sheperd’s Pie

Hi friends,

I love generational family recipes!  You know, that recipe that is so good that it gets handed down within the family?
Here is one of my favourites, my Auntie Bonnie’s Sheperd’s Pie.  I remember eating this casserole with my cousins in my Aunt and Uncle’s house in Ontario, with the copper baking pans hanging on the wall when I was a child.

Sheperd’s Pie – serves 6:

– 5 large potatoes

– 1/2 c. milk

– 1/4 c. butter

– 1 tsp. minced garlic

– salt and pepper

– 1 lb. ground beef

– 1 chopped white onion

– 2 tsp. steak seasoning

– 1 lg. can creamed corn

– 1 c. shredded cheese

– 1 tbsp. smoked paprika

Boil and mash potatoes once drained, add milk, butter, garlic and salt and pepper to taste, set aside.

Cook beef with onion and steak seasoning and drain fat, set aside.

Assemble in a large casserole dish – beef on the bottom, creamed corn, potatoes, top with cheese and paprika.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, uncovered.

Enjoy!
