Financial Friday: Maintaining your appliances

Hi friends,
One of the very expensive items in your home are your appliances and their maintenance should be a seasonal priority to save money on repairs and replacement in the long run.

Spring and fall, make a note on your calendar to:
– fridge; major clean out including removing and washing out drawers, vacuuming out coils in the back
– stove; clean oven and stovetop
– dishwasher; run empty with a cup of vinegar on your hottest cycle, then wipe out inside, cleaning all edges and seals
– washing machine; run empty on hot cycle with a cup of vinegar, wipe out when done. Just a note that front washing loaders should have the door left open after each load to let the seal dry so that it doesn’t rot. Wipe the outside with a lean, soft cloth.
-dryer; wipe with a clean, soft cloth
