It’s the time of year when my family engages in a moratorium on buying anything for themselves. For the month before Christmas, in this house, you are not allowed to buy anything for yourself. It’s a good exercise in self-denial for everyone, from me, right on down to the kids.
We are allowed to buy gifts and items for others, and we do our regular grocery shopping. We try to focus on doing for others instead of our own wants. I encourage you to try something like this in your home and talk about it around your dinner table.
