I’vs posted before about dinnertime conversation with your kids; in my house it’s the question “What’s your favourite part of the day?” when we are together for a meal. That’s definitely a family ritual in our house.
Creating a family night ritual in your house is an extension of family dinners, pick a day of the week and an activity – such as a board game, colouring, a movie or family TV show, music to play or listen to, whatever your family is into together, and make it a point to spend a 1/2 hour after dinner, one day each week, to that activity as a family. In our house, we like to play board games after dinner on Sunday. It’s fun, free and quick, unless we play Monopoly!
Include your kids in the planning of your new family night ritual or tweak an old one if it’s no longer working for you.
