Sparkling Clean Tuesday: Clean the crannies in your vacuum

Hi friends,

I accidentally turned my vacuum cleaner upside down recently – and yikes!
The amount of hair and debris in the beater bar that spins over the carpet was really gross.

In 5 minutes, I cut out the hair coiled round it with scissors, and pulled it out, and then wiped down the bar and as much as I could reach inside the machine with Lysol wipes.  These are perfect for the job because the cleaner dries very fast, and you don’t want the inside of the vacuum wet.

Then, I wiped down the outside of the vacuum with more Lysol wipes since it was really dusty and dirty.

It was a quick & dirty job that’s now clean and sparkly.

Sparkling Clean Tuesday: Freshen up your garburator

Hi friends,

Here’s a quick and day way to freshen up your garburator.

Throw in –

1 handful of ice cubes, 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1 chopped lemon or lime.

Then, run the hot water while you turn on the garburator.  Let the water and the garburator run for at least two minutes until everything is flushed through.

Sparkling Clean Tuesday: Living room furniture sides

Hi friends,

With animals and kids in the house, I sometimes forget to look at the sides of my furniture, I only notice the tops.

Today’s job is to grab a clean cloth and some hot, soapy water.  Dip your cloth in the water, and wring it out until just damp, and then wipe down the sides of your couches, comfy chairs, ottomans, coffee tables, any of your living room furniture.

Take the few minutes to sparkle up your living space!

Sparkling Clean Tuesday: Dirty stairs!

Hi friends,

A main part of our homes that get neglected are the stairs.  This will take longer than a usual cleaning party, but it will be beautiful when you’re done!
Wipe down the walls along your stairs with hot, soapy water, and wipe down the runners along the bottom, and the railings too.  Then, vacuum the stairs themselves.  It should take 1/2 hour total.
You will thank yourself when you see how sparkly and nice your stairs are!

Sparkling Clean Tuesday: Wipe down your fans

Hi friends,
Here’s a quick 10 minute job that will help keep your air cleaner in your home:
Wipe down your fans, whether they be ceiling fans that you can use a Swiffer duster or a damp sock on, a countertop fan that would love a Lysol wipe or a damp cloth, or a stand fan that would be grateful for a microfiber cloth scrub.

Take the minute to take care of this task and you will be breathing easier in no time.

Sparkling Clean Tuesday: Change your furnace filter

Hi friends,

It’s the end of furnace season in Canada (hopefully!) and it will only take a 1/2 hour to complete the season in a clean way, and get ready for next winter.

This is a two part challenge that won’t take very long!

1. Change your furnace filter

2. Vacuum out your large air intake vents

Your home’s air will be much more fresh and clean, and ready for the furnace to come on, next time.
