Financial Friday: Saving for a big ticket item

Hi friends,

Let’s talk about saving for a big ticket item.

Here’s my plan that I use:

– Pick an item to save to save for

– Make a savings plan: I want a $250 TV and I want to save for it in 5 months.  I’ll take $25 out per payday, $50 a month, and put it in a mayo jar in my house.

– Price shop/look up reviews for the item while I save for it

– Decide on what I’m going to buy

– Buy it at the end of my 5 month savings period

Try it!

Financial Friday: Paying extra taxes

Hi friends,

Here’s an easy way to give yourself a little extra cash – with no nasty surprises – at tax time for next year:

Meet my friend, the extra taxes form

Print, fill in – pay extra attention to the last bit where the form asks how much extra taxes you want deducted per pay check – and voila!  Putting in some extra money for tax time so that you are covered and probably get a little extra cash back is amazing!

Financial Friday: Saving for a trip

Hi friends,

I’m currently saving for a trip (yay!)

I opened a US dollar high interest savings account with my bank, and started a plan to transfer a certain amount of money each payday into it, and then in a few months when I go, I will have the US dollars that I need to go 🙂

Contact your bank and see what options they have for you, this account that I opened has no fees, and I can transfer money into it online.
