Sparkling Clean Tuesday: Clean the crannies in your vacuum

Hi friends,

I accidentally turned my vacuum cleaner upside down recently – and yikes!
The amount of hair and debris in the beater bar that spins over the carpet was really gross.

In 5 minutes, I cut out the hair coiled round it with scissors, and pulled it out, and then wiped down the bar and as much as I could reach inside the machine with Lysol wipes.  These are perfect for the job because the cleaner dries very fast, and you don’t want the inside of the vacuum wet.

Then, I wiped down the outside of the vacuum with more Lysol wipes since it was really dusty and dirty.

It was a quick & dirty job that’s now clean and sparkly.

Sparkling Clean Tuesday: Change your furnace filter

Hi friends,

It’s the end of furnace season in Canada (hopefully!) and it will only take a 1/2 hour to complete the season in a clean way, and get ready for next winter.

This is a two part challenge that won’t take very long!

1. Change your furnace filter

2. Vacuum out your large air intake vents

Your home’s air will be much more fresh and clean, and ready for the furnace to come on, next time.

Sparkling Clean Tuesday: Vacuum your freezer

Hi friends,

I know, you’re probably already shaking your head at me over the title of this post, but I mean it!

Your scary mission is to empty out your freezer.  While you do this, chuck out anything expired or freezer burnt.  When it’s empty, if your house is like mine, you’ll see a big old pile of crumbs.  While wiping has a certain appeal and you can certainly do this first, it doesn’t get everything, and you might experience the cloth getting stuck to the frozen shelf phenomenon.  So I pulled out my vacuum, put on an attachment, and then vacuumed out the bottom of the freezer.  Ta da!  2 minutes and it’s brand new again.  Then, re-load and enjoy!
